David R. Heilman is a seasoned financial executive with over twenty-five years of broad based financial management and corporate finance experience. He has led the financial and administrative activities of a $1.3 billion international retailer and has experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures as well as significant investment and lending experience.
Prior to joining Meridian, he served as the Chief Administrative Officer of GNC Corporation. In this role and his prior role as Chief Financial Officer, he was responsible for the direction of the accounting, finance, MIS, legal, loss prevention and scientific affairs functions for this specialty retailer of nutritional supplements with over 5,600 locations worldwide. Prior to his role as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Heilman served as the Vice President for Strategic Planning and Corporate Development, responsible for developing the strategic plan on an annual basis, developing an acquisition program to support the strategic initiatives and executing the program. In the course of executing these programs, he evaluated numerous acquisitions for the company and closed seven acquisitions and divestitures as well as a number of joint ventures and licensing arrangements.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Heilman was the President of First Westinghouse Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Financial Services, and was responsible for the generation and management of privately placed subordinated loans and investments with a portfolio of $1.3 billion. He held numerous other management and underwriting positions during a 16 year career with Westinghouse.
Mr. Heilman serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Clair Memorial Hospital and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Nutritional Foods Association and the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. Mr. Heilman has an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
